The process of promoting an experience capitalization approach in Central Asia started in 2017, building on an initiative that focused on the collection of good practices on the use of ICTs in agri-food systems. One of its first steps was the identification of primary and secondary material in Russian. A team of three persons set the plan for the translation and adaptation of the resources available in English, and the consequent promotion of the Experience Capitalization approach in Russian-speaking countries.

After two if its staff members attended the workshops in Goa and Pondicherry, the Integrated Livelihood Support Programme (ILSP) decided to organise a similar training workshop for its own staff and partners. A first training workshop took place in Chiangmai in August 2017, helping 32 participants, representing 14 organisations from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, start an experience capitalization process. Between the 20th and the 23rd of November, the same team conducted a follow-up workshop to finalise these cases.

Asia is not a part of the world which CTA generally covers, but the project was especially interested in working there. The process that started in April 2017 has helped participants from India, Nepal and Bhutan capture experiences in a comprehensive and strong way. "This has been an empowering exercise".

A new capitalization process started with a first workshop in Chiang Mai, Thailand, with representatives of organizations based in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and the Philippines, and with the support of the Asia Indigenous People’s Pact, AIPP.
